#TEAMCHIA EMPLOYEE HIGHLIGHT: LORI CHIAPPETTA
First of all, we at Chiappetta Shoes want to thank you all for reciprocating the love from our last employee spotlight of Brian. We are happy to hear you guys are as big of a fan of Brian as we are. 😊
This time around we are bringing the spotlight to Lori Chiappetta. Lori is a co-owner of Chiappetta Shoes with her husband, Fred Chiappetta. Lori is an integral part of the company to keep everything running smoothly. Let us dive into a recent interview where we were able to sit down with Lori and have a nice candid conversation. Here’s the scoop between Lori and her son, Tony Chiappetta!
TC: Hey mom, thanks for sitting down with me today. What were you doing before you got into the shoe business?
LC: Prior to joining the family business in 1995, I would work in the shop and help Fred (Husband and Co-Owner) doing mailers, writing articles, doing displays, and checking in merchandise on my off time. Very often if you remember, I would bring you boys (Tony and Nick Chiappetta) to the store and have you both working on projects, sweeping the aisles and cleaning while I helped out on the floor.
TC: You definitely helped insert the shoe business into our DNA since day one. We all know how dedicated you were and still are to the business, but everyone needs breaks eventually. What do you do in your free time?
LC: I really love being outdoors and enjoying nature. That turned into my love for gardening. It’s definitely my therapy from running a small business.
TC: Now being in the shoe business, we know you’re a top shoe dog. What do you love about being a shoe dog for over 25 years?
LC: The thrill of seeing new merchandise at the shows is one of my favorites. I love making our selections out of the vast array of brands, styles, and colors. Then, when the season hits 6 months later, all the shoes arrive on our doorstep. Seeing them unpacked is like Christmas every day! The best part is when our customers come in and love all that we have chosen. They in-turn are excited to buy what we’ve collaborated on for many months to bring to Chiappetta Shoes.
TC: We do carry a lot of great brands of shoes at our store, do you have a favorite brand?
LC: That’s too tough for me to choose just one, but if I could only choose one, it would be Taos shoes. I love their sandals, shoes, and boots. Every season they are well represented in all categories. The comfort is fabulous, the color options are vast, and the design details are right on-trend. This is the brand that I own the most shoes!
TC: We all know you’re fantastic at your job, but can you name 3 things that make you great at what you do?
LC: Dedication is something all business owners need to have, and that is something I’m proud to say I have. I can always be counted on. My experience has been key to be prepared for anything that can arise in retail. I’ve been in the retail industry since I was 16 years old. I’m also a multi-tasker, I always have lots of “irons in the fire.”
TC: Well, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to sit down with me. But before we go, my last question is this: What is a favorite quote to live by?
LC: My favorite quote is actually one that we use here at the store. “People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou. I think this is so very true. Thank you for having me, Tony!
